I went and purchased Real Running Shoes this weekend. You know - the kind where you go to the running store and they analyze your stride and pick a type of shoe and then you try them on and they cost lots more money that at the department store? My new shoes are sliver and shiny metallic purple and they have gel in them and are to support my arches. My new shoes hurt my feet. Do those two sentences seem like they should not be next to eachother? You are right, if you said no they should not. I will have to return my new shoes. They felt great in the store, I even ran just a smoodge on their treadmill. I thought the tighter heels would be nice. NOPE! I took my new shoes to the Y today to try them on the treadmill/track thing. After 20 min I knew that these were not the shoes for me! I hope they let me return them! After all, I paid more money than I've ever paid for workout shoes...I don't want them to sit in the closet...AND I don't want to wear them and hurt myself since I spent the money. I didn't wear them for very long - heck people were trying shoes longer in the store, and I didn't go outside. I don't see a problem.
Still, I'm sad. I was all excited to have Real Running Shoes and to step up my workouts. Now, I'm back to my wornout shoes until I can return these and get a second new pair. Sigh. The worst part is the little voice in the back of my head whispering...But really...your old shoes are only mostly worn out. You don't need to spend the money. Horde it! If one is going to pound the CRAP out of one's body running, one should have the proper equipment to do so. Since the main equipment is running - that means shoes.
So, one night this week - or more likely this weekend, I will be going back to the store I bought them from, asking politely if I can get a different pair, and starting over. Too bad I want to get in shape so badly. Sitting at home is so much easier!
